MIXING
Place approximately 6–7 litres of clean, potable water into the mixing vessel. Slowly add the total contents of Ronabond® Tile Adhesive powder into the mixing vessel. Initially, mix continuously for at least 3 minutes using an electric drill with paddle, until all powder has been wetted out and a uniform homogeneous paste is achieved. Allow the mixture to rest for at least 5 minutes and re-mix the material for another 1 minute before applying the tile adhesive mixture to the surface. The mixed tile adhesive should be kept in the mixing vessel and protected from direct sunlight. The mixed tile adhesive should be used within 2 hours of initial mixing.
APPLICATION
Use a straight edged plastering trowel; spread the tile adhesive onto the surface for tiling. Limit the application of the tile adhesive to an area that will have tiles set to the surface whilst the applied adhesive is still tacky. Use a notched trowel to form ribs into the surface of the applied adhesive. Check adhesive surface for tackiness using a finger, prior to placing tiles. Non-tacky adhesive must be removed. Set and tap the tiles well into place, ensuring void-free contact into the tacky adhesive. Check for complete adhesive contact by prizing off a tile. Allow the adhesive sufficient time to achieve initial set and hardness; when tiles can no longer be adjusted. Remove all adhesive from the width and depth of the tile joint. Clean the tile surface using a damp sponge to remove surplus adhesive.
Form movement joints in accordance with BS 5385. For maximum effect and compatibility, fill movement joints using Sikaflex® Joint Sealant.
For maximum compatibility, durability, effect and protection we strongly recommend the use of Ronafix® Colour Grout to fill the joints between the tiles. We do not recommend leaving the tile joints unfilled and exposed. If "open" joints are an aesthetic requirement, specific installation guidance must be obtained from Sika Technical Department.
CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT
Clean all tools and application equipment with clean water immediately after use.
