Sika® Rugasol C

Concrete surface retarder for horizontal surfaces

Sika® Rugasol C is a liquid retarder for horizontal surfaces to exposed aggregate work or for producing a mechanical key to construction joints, stop ends or subsequent screeds applications. The retarding compound in Sika® Rugasol C combines with cement at the surface and delays the normal hydration for approximately 1-2 days (high cement contents and temperatures will reduce the retardation).  After retardation has finished, the concrete cures to its full strength.

Sika® Rugasol C is a surface retarder for application on horizontal surfaces of freshly placed concrete areas such as :

APPLICATION

Sika® Rugasol C is ready to use and should not be diluted.

The concrete is mixed, placed, compacted, screeded and lightly trowelled to achieve a uniform and even finish.  A good uniform coat of Sika® Rugasol C should be sprayed onto the horizontal concrete surface as soon as the initial “bleeding” of the concrete has finished.  (A garden spray is suitable).  After the initial cure of the concrete has elapsed, the soft cement paste on the surface can be wash down with clean water by low pressure water-blaster and a soft broom until a good clean exposed aggregated finish is revealed.  Treated surface should be protected from direct sunlight or warm wind, which can cause the surface to dry out rapidly.  Proper curing procedures are important to ensure the durability and quality of the concrete.

The action of Sika® Rugasol C is the retardation of the setting process of the cement on the top surface of the concrete to a depth of 2 to 5 mm.  The retardation period is up to 24 hours in warm weather and up to 36 hours in cooler condition.  The actual length of the retardation period will vary depending on cement content, ambient air temperature, the amount of Sika® Rugasol C applied and the time it is left on the surface before removal.

 

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Spray equipment should be washed out after use with hot water.
